WHO is participating at the 27th World Congress of the International Union against Sexually Transmitted Infections (IUSTI) taking place in Prague, Czech Republic, from 14–17 October 2026.
WHO will take this opportunity to present its latest epidemiological, scientific, and normative work related to sexually transmitted infections (STIs). WHO will play a key role in several sessions at the conference.

WHO symposium – Drug-resistant gonorrhoea: Closing the gap between surveillance and action

This session will explore how to strengthen the connection between surveillance, policy, and implementation. Bringing together representatives from WHO, the European Commission’s Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Authority (HERA), countries experiencing gonococcal antimicrobial resistance, and WHO Collaborating Centres, the discussion will focus on translating surveillance and evidence into effective policy and programmatic responses.
WHO symposium – The future of STI control: technical priorities for impact

This session will examine key technical priorities for the future of STI control, including research priorities, diagnostics and access, prevention innovation, antimicrobial resistance, and WHO normative guidance. Framed through the WHO Mobilizing for Action on STIs initiative, the session will focus on how evidence, innovation, and advancing normative guidance can be translated into policies, programmes, and clinical practice to strengthen quality of care and accelerate impact in a changing global health environment.
